In this module, ISA Practice Center aims to enhance students’ theoretical and practical skills in high-quality blood collection for clinical laboratory testing. In addition, students will develop communication skills to provide appropriate patient care and ensure the patient’s comfort and well-being throughout the procedure.
Students will be prepared to work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospital laboratories, clinics, and blood banks.
Expected Competencies:
Upon completion of the course, participants will have developed the following core competencies:
✓ Properly perform aseptic and antiseptic techniques.
✓ Obtain an appropriate patient medical history.
✓ Identify and select the most appropriate venipuncture site.
✓ Select the appropriate equipment and materials for each procedure.
✓ Safely and efficiently perform venous and capillary blood collections.
✓ Properly prepare blood specimens for transport to the laboratory.
✓ Work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
